Find Any Tuition Centres and Enrichment Classes

HDB Hub isn’t really a shopping mall — it’s the Housing and Development Board’s own headquarters, a 33-storey office tower sitting on top of a retail podium, with Toa Payoh MRT station and the bus interchange built directly into the basement. Parents already passing through for a service counter, a library visit, or just the MRT connection have two tuition centres in the same building to fold a lesson into that trip.

We checked every listing tagged to Toa Payoh against its actual coordinates rather than trusting the category label alone, then cross-checked the result against an independent enrichment directory. Two centres are genuinely inside HDB Hub — Mind Stretcher and KRTC — both with addresses that land on the building itself, not somewhere down the road. A few other Toa Payoh-tagged listings turned out to sit closer to Toa Payoh Mall at 185 Toa Payoh Central instead, so they’re covered separately rather than double-counted here. Here’s what each HDB Hub centre offers.

1. Mind Stretcher (HDB Hub)

Address: Toa Payoh HDB Hub, 530 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh #02-06, Singapore 310530
Phone: +65 8883 8004 | Website: mindstretcher.com

Mind Stretcher has been running since 2002 and now has 29 branches across Singapore, this HDB Hub outlet among them. The curriculum is proprietary — built in-house and updated to track MOE syllabus changes — and lessons lean on what the centre calls “Discovery Zone” activities alongside a “Scaffolding” method that walks students through a concept step by step rather than dropping them straight into practice questions. Homework and timed exercises are part of the routine too, backed by an app and an online study platform for after-class practice. Classes are kept small enough for tutors to catch a struggling student early.

  • Preschool: English, Math, Phonics
  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Chemistry, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math, Physics, Science

KRTC — short for Kent Ridge Education Hub — was founded in 1988, which makes it one of the longer-running names in this list of centres, at over 35 years old. Tutors are described as MOE/NIE-trained, and the centre frames its approach as “Experiential Learning through Interactions” rather than straight drilling, aiming to build study habits and confidence alongside subject knowledge. On its own site KRTC cites a 99% figure for students improving by two grades or more, a claim worth asking the centre to unpack directly rather than taking at face value.

  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math, Physics, Science

Frequently Asked Questions

Are both these tuition centres actually inside HDB Hub?

Yes — Mind Stretcher (#02-06) and KRTC (HDB Hub Biz 1, #04-43/32) both have addresses on the HDB Hub building itself, at 530 and 500 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh respectively. Other Toa Payoh-area listings we checked turned out to be closer to Toa Payoh Mall a short walk away, so they’re not included here.

Is HDB Hub a shopping mall?

Not primarily. It’s the Housing and Development Board’s headquarters — a 33-storey office tower — with four levels of retail underneath, mostly F&B, banks, clinics, and everyday services rather than a typical mall tenant mix.

Which centre covers more subjects at secondary level?

KRTC’s secondary list includes Biology as a separate subject alongside Chemistry and Physics; Mind Stretcher’s secondary list covers Chemistry, Physics, and a combined Science option. Both go up to Additional Math and Elementary Math.

Do either of these centres offer a trial class?

Neither currently lists one. Contact each centre directly to ask about a placement assessment or a paid trial lesson instead — availability can change.

How do I get to HDB Hub without driving?

Toa Payoh MRT station connects directly into the HDB Hub basement via a sheltered underground walkway, so you don’t need to surface at street level at all.

Can I combine an HDB service counter visit or library trip with a lesson?

Yes — HDB Hub also houses a National Library Board branch and the HDB’s own service counters in the same complex as both tuition centres, so it’s easy to time an errand around a lesson.

About HDB Hub

HDB Hub opened on 10 June 2002 as the new headquarters of the Housing and Development Board, replacing its former home in Bukit Merah. The building cost about S$380 million to complete and combines a 33-storey office tower with four levels of retail space wrapped around an indoor plaza. A showroom called Habitat Forum, showcasing HDB flat designs and estate planning, launched inside the building in October 2002.

The retail podium itself isn’t built around anchor department stores the way a typical mall is — the tenant mix leans toward F&B outlets, banks, clinics, and service counters, which is part of why it feels different from Toa Payoh Mall a few minutes’ walk away. A National Library Board branch operates within the complex, useful if a sibling needs somewhere quiet to wait during a lesson.

  • HDB service counters and Habitat Forum — the building’s original purpose, still drawing a steady stream of visitors on estate and flat-related business.
  • NLB library branch — a quiet spot for a sibling to wait or study during a lesson.
  • F&B, banks and clinics on the retail levels — enough to run an errand around a tuition appointment without leaving the building.

Getting to HDB Hub: MRT & parking

By MRT: Toa Payoh MRT station (NS19, North-South Line) connects directly into HDB Hub’s basement level via a sheltered, air-conditioned underground walkway — no need to come up to street level first.

By bus: The Toa Payoh Bus Interchange sits at ground level within the same complex, integrated with the MRT station, and is served by a large number of services running across the island.

By car: HDB Hub has its own multi-storey car park on site at 480 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh. Weekdays from 7am to 6pm it’s charged per 30 minutes with a 10-minute grace period; from 6pm to 10:30pm on weekdays, and 7am to 11:30pm on weekends and public holidays, it switches to a flat per-entry rate; overnight from 10:30pm to 7am there’s a separate flat overnight rate.

  • Weekday daytime (7am–6pm): S$0.60 per 30 minutes, no cap for the full stay.
  • Weekday evening (6pm–10:30pm): flat S$1.50 per entry.
  • Weekends & public holidays (7am–11:30pm): flat S$1.50 per entry.
  • Overnight (10:30pm–7am): flat S$5.00 per entry.

For a typical weekday lesson block of an hour to 90 minutes during the day, budget around S$1.20–S$1.80 if you’re driving in. Rates are set by the on-site parking system, so it’s worth checking the gantry display since published rates can change.

Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Toa Payoh tuition centres for more options.
