Over 1200+ Tuition Centres

NEX gets called the biggest mall in Singapore’s northeast often enough that you’d expect a whole floor of tuition centres inside it. There isn’t one. Two tuition centres actually sit inside NEX itself — the rest of what people mean by “tuition near NEX” is really the HDB estate wrapped around it, Blocks 204 through 326 along Serangoon Central and Serangoon Avenues 2 and 3, a few minutes’ walk from the mall doors.

We checked every tuition listing tagged to Serangoon against its actual coordinates rather than trusting the category label — plenty of “Serangoon” listings turned out to be Lorong Chuan, Yio Chu Kang Road, or Woodleigh Mall, a kilometre or more away. What’s left below is twelve centres genuinely within a short walk of NEX, split so it’s clear which two are in the mall and which ten are in the surrounding blocks. We also checked NEX’s own store directory against this list — it names four more education tenants inside the mall (Aspire Hub Primary, Aureus Academy, Heguru Education Centre, Wang Learning Centre) that aren’t yet listed on tuitioncentres.sg. More on that in the FAQ below.

Inside NEX

KRTC (Serangoon NEX)

1. KRTC (Serangoon NEX)

Address: Nex Shopping Mall, 23 Serangoon Central, #01-56, Singapore 556083
Phone: +65 6284 8444 | Website: krtc.com.sg

KRTC — short for Kent Ridge Education — has been running since 1988, which makes it one of the longest-standing names on this list. It builds lessons around what it calls “Experiential Learning through Interactions,” leaning on group discussion rather than straight worksheet drilling, and draws on a bench of more than 100 tutors group-wide, including some with MOE/NIE backgrounds. The centre also publishes a claim that 99% of its students improve by two grades or more — worth asking them to unpack directly rather than taking at face value, since it’s self-reported.

  • Preschool: Chinese, English, Math
  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math, Physics, Science
  • Contact the centre directly for current trial class availability

Address: 23 Serangoon Central, Nex, #04R-79 (near Library), Singapore 556083
Phone: +65 6634 2412 | Website: aspirehub.com

Aspire Hub is part of the “88Tuition” platform, which now runs 15 MRT-linked branches across the island — this one sits near the library level, on the same floor as NEX’s rooftop cluster. The stated philosophy is “understanding before memorisation,” delivered through a personal-coach model built around how Singapore examiners actually mark, rather than a single fixed classroom curriculum.

  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math, Physics, Science
  • Contact the centre directly for current trial class availability

LCentral (Serangoon Central)

3. LCentral (Serangoon Central)

Address: Blk 204 Serangoon Central #01-112, Singapore 550204
Phone: +65 9655 6329 | Website: lcentral.net

LCentral splits its English programme into named stages — Foundations, LaunchPad, LiftOff, Success — plus separate tracks for reading, writing, and speaking, so a child gets pulled into the specific skill they’re weak in rather than one generic class. Placement starts with a free assessment, and the centre leans on MOE-aligned content taught by certified instructors rather than a single branded method.

  • Preschool: English
  • Primary: English
  • Free trial class available

AGrader Learning Centre (Serangoon Central)

4. AGrader Learning Centre (Serangoon Central)

Address: 204 Serangoon Central, #01-110 Singapore 550204
Phone: +65 8339 2801 | Website: agrader.sg

AGrader leans hard into Math, teaching ahead of the MOE syllabus with in-house weekly worksheets to reinforce what’s covered in class. Class sizes are capped at 12, and enrolment includes access to the centre’s EverLoop system for revision after hours. Worth a look if Math specifically is what you’re chasing, though it covers the other core subjects too.

  • Preschool: Chinese, English, Math, Phonics
  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Elementary Math, Math

Mind Centre for Learning (Serangoon Branch)

5. Mind Centre for Learning (Serangoon Branch)

Address: 265 Serangoon Central Drive, #04-267 (Lift C), S550265
Phone: +65 9838 8821 | Website: mindcentre.site

Mind Centre runs what it brands “FAST Study Methodologies” — turning abstract theory into stories that are easier to recall, right-brain mind-mapping for retention, and reading model compositions aloud to absorb sentence structure. Lead tutor “Teacher Violet” is cited as having 23 years in the classroom, and the centre says it’s coached over 18,000 students across Science, English, and General Paper — a figure worth asking them to break down rather than taking as-is.

  • Primary: English, Science
  • Secondary: Biology, Chemistry, English, Physics, Science
  • JC: Biology, Chemistry, General Paper, Physics
  • Paid trial class available

Address: Blk 265 Serangoon Central Dr, #02-271, Singapore 550265
Phone: +65 9145 5879 | Website: choicehuasheng.com.sg

Choice Hua Sheng was founded by Madam Kuang after 30 years teaching Chinese, and that classroom background shows in how lessons run — small groups, scaffolded writing practice, difficulty adjusted per student instead of one fixed track. It covers preschool through secondary, including O-Level and Higher Chinese preparation.

  • Preschool, Primary, Secondary: Chinese
  • No trial class currently offered

Zenith Education Studio (Serangoon)

7. Zenith Education Studio (Serangoon)

Address: 50 Serangoon Ave 2, #03-01/02 Braddell Heights CC (Community Club), Singapore 556129
Phone: +65 8768 7651 | Website: zenitheducationstudio.com

Zenith runs out of Braddell Heights Community Club, a short walk from NEX along Serangoon Ave 2, and covers the widest span of any centre on this list — full Secondary science and math plus a complete JC line-up including General Paper. Its H2 Math curriculum comes from Lim Chuan Li, a former MOE award-winning educator, structured around the idea that most exam questions follow a limited set of patterns once you can spot them. Teachers are subject specialists with at least four years’ experience each.

  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Elementary Math, Math, Physics, Science
  • JC: Biology, Chemistry, Economics, General Paper, Mathematics, Physics
  • Free trial class available

Catalyst Maths and Science Academy

8. Catalyst Maths and Science Academy

Address: 326 Serangoon Ave 3 #02-374 Singapore 550326
Phone: +65 8845 3771 | Website: catalyst.edu.sg

Catalyst was co-founded by Dion Tan, an MOE-registered teacher with a Chemistry/Biochemistry degree from NTU and a Master’s in Science from NUS, and Kelvin Sim, who’s spent over 20 years developing Math and Science programmes and has worked on exam script-setting. Lessons follow a five-stage flow — one-on-one tuition, then peer learning in small groups, scheduled practice, past-paper exam prep, and a post-exam review — aligned to MOE and SEAB syllabuses across PSLE, O-Level, and A-Level.

  • Primary: Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Elementary Math, Math, Physics, Science
  • JC: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics
  • No trial class currently offered

Kumon (Serangoon Central Drive)

9. Kumon (Serangoon Central Drive)

Address: Blk 253 Serangoon Central Drive #01-235 (2nd Floor) Singapore 550253
Phone: +65 9452 3470 | Website: sg.kumonglobal.com

Kumon doesn’t run a classroom in the usual sense. Children work through individualised worksheets at their own pace, each one a small step harder than the last, with the instructor mostly setting the right starting point rather than teaching from the front. The idea is 30 minutes a day, per subject, building the habit of working things out independently rather than a weekly block of instruction.

  • Preschool: English, Math
  • Primary: English, Math
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Elementary Math, English, Math

PlayFACTO School (Serangoon Central)

10. PlayFACTO School (Serangoon Central)

Address: 237 Serangoon Ave 3, #01-106 S550237
Phone: +65 9773 4336 | Website: playfactoschool.com.sg

PlayFACTO’s Creative Math programme was co-developed with Korean education specialists and built around hands-on manipulatives and storytelling rather than worksheets, aimed roughly at ages 3 to 10. This branch covers Math and Chinese at Primary level; the Coding & Robotics track — MODI IoT kits for younger children, then VEX kits as they get older — runs at other branches. A reasonable pick if you want enrichment that doesn’t feel like a second round of school.

  • Preschool: Math, Robotics
  • Primary: Chinese, Math
  • No trial class currently offered

Crucible (Serangoon)

11. Crucible (Serangoon)

Address: Block 301 Serangoon Avenue 2 #01-328 Singapore 550301
Phone: +65 8742 8441 | Website: crucible.com.sg

Crucible has grown to seven branches since it started in 2018. Teaching leans on worked analogies and step-by-step frameworks for essay- and case-study-style answers — useful for Chemistry and the reasoning parts of Math, where marks are often lost on structure rather than content. This branch’s listing is Secondary-only; Primary and JC tuition are part of Crucible’s offering elsewhere, so ask directly if you need a different level at this address.

  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math, Physics, Science

Eduedge Learning Hub (Serangoon)

12. Eduedge Learning Hub (Serangoon)

Address: 301 Serangoon Ave 2 #01-330 Singapore 550301
Phone: +65 6288 8741 | Website: eduedge.com.sg

Eduedge teaches English only, across three branches (Serangoon, Bukit Timah, Marine Parade), and treats that narrowness as the point — its site argues single-subject focus builds deeper mastery than a centre juggling five. The approach, developed by founder Edwin Edangelus Cheng (a former MOE Subject Head for Curriculum Innovation), breaks English into six skills and 32 sub-skills, each taught through a specific “formula,” under the branded name Total English Mastery System. The centre cites over 3,500 students improving by two grades or more across ten years — a self-reported figure, so worth confirming what it’s measured against.

  • Primary: English
  • Secondary: English
  • JC: General Paper
  • Free trial class available

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all these tuition centres actually inside NEX mall?

Only two: KRTC (#01-56) and Aspire Hub (#04R-79, near the rooftop library) are physically inside NEX. The other ten sit in the HDB blocks that ring the mall along Serangoon Central and Serangoon Avenues 2 and 3 — Blocks 204, 237, 265, 301, and 326, plus Braddell Heights Community Club — all within roughly a 3 to 10-minute walk, not inside the building itself.

Are there other tuition or enrichment centres inside NEX that aren’t on this list?

Possibly. NEX’s own store directory lists four more education tenants on its rooftop level that aren’t yet in our database: Aspire Hub Primary (#04R-78), Aureus Academy (#04-01A/02, music), Heguru Education Centre (#04R-81, early-childhood whole-brain enrichment), and Wang Learning Centre (#04R-77, Chinese enrichment). Worth checking directly if you’re specifically after music, whole-brain, or Chinese enrichment inside the mall itself.

Which centre is best for a young child just starting out?

PlayFACTO leans most heavily into preschool, using play-based Math and introducing Robotics early. KRTC, AGrader, Kumon, and LCentral all run preschool programmes too, covering combinations of English, Math, Chinese, and Phonics.

Is there a Chinese-language specialist near NEX?

Choice Hua Sheng Education Centre, at Blk 265 Serangoon Central Drive, focuses exclusively on Chinese from preschool through secondary. KRTC and Aspire Hub also teach Chinese alongside their broader subject range.

Which centres cover JC-level subjects?

Zenith Education Studio and Mind Centre for Learning both run a full JC science/math line-up plus General Paper. Catalyst covers JC Math and Science, and Eduedge covers JC General Paper specifically. Crucible offers JC tuition at its other branches, but not at this Serangoon address.

Do any of these centres offer a trial class?

LCentral, Zenith Education Studio, and Eduedge Learning Hub currently offer a free trial. Mind Centre for Learning offers a paid trial. Choice Hua Sheng, Catalyst, and PlayFACTO don’t currently offer one. Trial availability changes, so it’s worth confirming directly before enrolling.

About NEX

NEX had its soft opening on 25 November 2010 and officially opened on 21 April 2011, built by developer Gold Ridge Pte Ltd directly above Serangoon MRT station. The name stands for “Northeast Exchange,” a nod to both its location and its role as a transport node — the old Serangoon Bus Interchange, which had operated since 1988 nearby, was relocated into the new NEX-integrated facility on 3 September 2011, making it Singapore’s fourth Integrated Transport Hub after Toa Payoh, Sengkang, and Ang Mo Kio. A 2014 renovation brought in Uniqlo and H&M as fashion anchors.

Frasers Centrepoint Trust, which now holds a stake in the mall, describes it as the largest suburban retail mall in Northeast Singapore and the second-largest suburban mall in Singapore overall — worth flagging since some articles round that up to “largest in Singapore,” which isn’t quite accurate. The mall spans seven retail levels — two basements, four main floors, and a rooftop level — with a net lettable area of roughly 634,600 sq ft across more than 300 stores. Anchor tenants include NTUC FairPrice Xtra and Cold Storage (both 24 hours), Shaw Theatres, Isetan, Courts, and two separate food courts, Food Junction and Food Republic.

For parents specifically, the rooftop level is the useful bit: Serangoon Library sits up there, opened 11 March 2011 as the 23rd library in Singapore’s public network, with a collection of over 160,000 items — it’s often described as Singapore’s first library built on a mall rooftop, though that particular claim comes from secondary sources rather than NLB itself. The same rooftop level has kidzPLAY @ SkyGarden, a children’s play area, plus a pet-friendly zone. Mall hours run 10:30am to 10:30pm daily.

Getting to NEX: MRT & parking

By MRT: NEX sits directly above Serangoon MRT station, an interchange between the North East Line (NE12) and Circle Line (CC13). The station’s basement concourse opens straight into NEX’s lower levels, so it’s a sheltered, indoor walk rather than a timed street crossing.

By bus: Serangoon Bus Interchange is built into NEX’s basement. Services stopping there or at nearby bus stops include 22, 43, 45, 53, 58, 70, 81, 82, 100, 101, 103, 105, 107, 109, 133, 135, 147, 153, 158, 315, and 317, among others.

By car: From the city, take the SLE to the CTE, exit at Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 (Exit 11), then turn onto Boundary Road into Serangoon Central. From the east, the PIE or TPE connects to the CTE via Braddell Road or the same Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 exit.

  • Weekdays: 10-minute grace period, then S$1.50 for the first hour, S$0.75 per half-hour after.
  • Weekends & public holidays: 10-minute grace period, then S$1.60 for the first hour, S$0.80 per half-hour after.
  • Motorcycles: S$1.30 per entry, with a 10-minute grace period.
  • Overflow parking: a multi-storey car park at Block 264, linked to NEX Level 1 by a covered bridge, and a ground-level car park at Block 265.

For a typical 90-minute lesson block on a weekday, budget around S$2.25; on a weekend, closer to S$2.40. Rates are set by NEX’s own system and can change, so it’s worth checking the gantry display on the day.

Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Serangoon tuition centres for more options.
