Newton isn’t a large tuition hub on its own — most of the centres serving the area sit along Bukit Timah Road or spill over from the Rochor/Middle Road belt nearby. Options range from franchise enrichment programmes to small Chinese-language specialists.
We swept every listing categorised under “Newton” on this directory and kept every one that teaches Primary Chinese. That gives us 4 centres — a real count, not rounded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Newton centres teach Chinese at preschool level too, not just primary?
Kumon (Balmoral Plaza), Jiang Education Centre, and PlayFACTO School all list Chinese or general preschool subjects. Kumon and Jiang both teach Chinese specifically from preschool age, while PlayFACTO’s preschool offering is Math and Robotics, with Chinese starting at primary level.
Is there a centre in Newton that teaches Chinese right through to JC?
None of the four centres teach Chinese at JC level. Edu Star Academic Centre goes up to JC, but its JC subject is General Paper, not Chinese. For Chinese, the highest level covered here is secondary, offered by Kumon, Jiang Education Centre, and Edu Star.
Can I try a class before signing up?
Jiang Education Centre offers a paid trial class. Edu Star Academic Centre and PlayFACTO School both list no trial class available. Kumon’s listing doesn’t specify trial class availability, so check directly with the centre.
Are any of these centres focused on Chinese alone?
Jiang Education Centre is the only one teaching Chinese exclusively, across preschool, primary, and secondary. The other three centres teach Chinese as part of a broader subject mix that includes English, Math, Science, or Robotics.
Where exactly are these centres located?
Kumon and PlayFACTO are both on Bukit Timah Road, close to each other. Jiang Education Centre and Edu Star Academic Centre are both further out toward the Rochor/Middle Road area, near Fu Lu Shou Complex and Fortune Centre respectively.
Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Newton tuition centres for more options.
