Over 1200+ Tuition Centres

Beauty World Centre, at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, sits right beside Beauty World MRT station in the heart of Bukit Timah. Underneath the maid agencies, reflexology shops and the hawker centre that Bukit Timah residents have been eating at for decades, the mall also holds one of the densest clusters of tuition and enrichment centres in the area — everything from Chinese specialists to Math tutors to a piano studio.

We swept every listing in our database by distance from the mall and kept only the ones actually inside the building — not the neighbouring Beauty World Plaza next door, and not Bukit Timah Shopping Centre a little further down the road, which are separate buildings with their own tenant mix. That left an honest 17. Here’s the full list, with real addresses and unit numbers, not just a name and a phone number.

Jiang Education Centre was founded in 1995 by Mdm Kong, known as “Jiang Lao Shi,” a former chief editor of Chinese educational magazines who moved to Singapore in 1991. That’s about 30 years under the same founder rather than a franchise model — and it’s also why you’ll find PlayFACTO School sharing this exact unit downstairs: Jiang co-developed PlayFACTO’s Chinese Enrichment programme.

Those figures are the centre’s own, but they’ve also shown up independently in a couple of third-party listicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all these centres actually inside Beauty World Centre?

Yes — all 17 sit within the same building at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road. A couple even share a unit: PlayFACTO School and Jiang Education Centre both list #02-07, since Jiang co-developed PlayFACTO’s Chinese Enrichment programme. This list doesn’t include centres at the neighbouring Beauty World Plaza or at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre further down the road — those are separate buildings, even though some directories lump them together.

Is there a Chinese-language specialist at Beauty World Centre?

Several, in fact: Jiang Education Centre, Zhou’s Academic Studio, Yuquan Language School and Yu Ren Chinese Tuition all specialise in Chinese across preschool through secondary, while GRAM’s Learning Centre and PlayFACTO School also offer it alongside other subjects.

Which centre is best for a preschool-age child?

Zoo-Phonics School and Kinder Growth Learning Centre both run dedicated preschool phonics programmes. GRAM’s Learning Centre covers Chinese, English and Phonics together with an added art component, and PlayFACTO School offers play-based Math and Robotics from preschool age. Harmony Piano Studio is the option if you’re after music rather than an academic subject.

Which centre is best for Math tuition?

Concept Math Tuition Centre focuses on Primary Math specifically. Knockout Math and The Thinkers Cap both specialise in Secondary and JC Math (and Physics, in The Thinkers Cap’s case), while Miracle Learning Centre covers Math and Science continuously from Primary through JC.

What about English tuition?

Writers Studio School of English and Write Edge Learning Centre are the two English specialists here, both running from Primary through Secondary (Writers Studio also covers Preschool).

Do these centres offer trial classes?

It varies. Yu Ren Chinese Tuition offers a free trial; Jiang Education Centre, Concept Math, Zhou’s Academic Studio and Writers Studio offer paid trials. Most of the others — including Miracle Learning Centre, GRAM’s, PlayFACTO, Knockout Math, The Thinkers Cap, Zoo-Phonics, Yuquan, Write Edge and Kinder Growth — currently don’t list a trial class. Aspire Hub and Crucible don’t specify online, so it’s worth calling to ask directly. Availability changes, so always confirm before a first visit.

About Beauty World Centre

Beauty World Centre opened on 2 January 1984, built by the Urban Redevelopment Authority as a resettlement complex for stallholders from the old open-air “Beauty World” market and entertainment park that was demolished nearby. The original building held more than 160 shops around a naturally-lit atrium, plus a hawker centre on the top floor that re-housed many of the same stallholders — the Beauty World Food Centre is still there today.

The mall changed hands a few times: the URA sold it to Pidemco Land in 1989, which carried out a multi-phase renovation in 1993 that upgraded the shop layouts and expanded the hawker centre. In 1998, Pidemco sold the mall via strata title to its 194 individual shop owners, which is how it’s still run today. Physically, it’s a 5-storey retail podium beneath a 20-storey residential tower (“Bukit Timah View”), with a 6.5-storey car park holding around 261 vehicles. A rooftop farm was added in 2022.

These days the tenant mix leans heavily towards services families actually use on a regular basis: tuition and enrichment centres, maid agencies, reflexology and spa outlets, provision shops, and the hawker centre — less a destination mall, more a neighbourhood one, which probably explains why so many tuition centres have set up here over the years.

Getting to Beauty World Centre: MRT & parking

By MRT: Take the Downtown Line to Beauty World Station (DT5), which opened on 27 December 2015, and use Exit A — it’s about a 1-minute walk to Beauty World Centre, and the exit is wheelchair accessible.

By bus: There’s no bus interchange at Beauty World yet — a proper Beauty World Integrated Transport Hub is planned but isn’t due to open until 2028. In the meantime, roadside bus stops right outside the station serve the mall: the stop at Beauty World Stn Exit B (Upper Bukit Timah Road) is served by services 67, 75, 170, 173, 184, 852, 961, 961M and S43; the stop at Exit A by 67, 75, 170, 173 and S43; and the stop opposite the mall on Jalan Anak Bukit by 184, 852, 961 and 961M.

By car and parking: The car park operates 24 hours, every day including public holidays, and charges a flat $1.30 per hour. For a typical 1–1.5 hour lesson block, budget around $1.30–$2.00. Rates can change, so it’s worth confirming with the mall’s management office (#02-38, tel 6466 0379) if you’re planning a regular weekly run.

Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Bukit Timah tuition centres for more options.
