Over 1200+ Tuition Centres

Bukit Timah Plaza doesn’t look like a typical mall from the outside — it sits on a traffic island wedged between Jalan Anak Bukit, Upper Bukit Timah Road, and the Pan-Island Expressway, and most people driving past probably know it for the NTUC FairPrice Finest more than anything else. But tucked into its first and second floors is one of the denser clusters of tuition and enrichment centres in the Bukit Timah area — English, Math, Science, Chinese, and even a music school, all within the same building.

We swept every listing in our database within walking distance of the mall and kept only the ones actually inside it — no padding the count with centres from Beauty World Centre or Beauty World Plaza down the road, even though they’re often lumped into the same “Bukit Timah” search. That left 11 centres, all at 1 Jalan Anak Bukit. Here’s what each one offers.

Think Teach Academy (Bukit Timah Plaza)

1. Think Teach Academy (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #B1-52C, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9769 2396 | Website: thinkteachacademy.com

Think Teach Academy builds its lessons around what it calls a “3D approach” — decode the question by working through past-year papers to spot recurring patterns, devise a technique for each question type, then drill until the technique is second nature. It’s a fairly exam-focused way of teaching, and it shows in the range: the centre takes students from primary level right through PSLE, O Levels, and into A Level and IB territory.

  • Primary: English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Biology, Chemistry, Elementary Math, English, History, Math, Physics, Science

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-24E, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 8048 8264 | Website: sciencestudios.com.sg

Science Studios does one thing: Science, taught the way a lab class should feel rather than a worksheet session. Lessons follow the 5-E model — engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate — with students running hands-on experiments most weeks rather than just reading about them. The curriculum was put together by a teacher with a background in MOE schools and the Gifted Education Programme, and it stays close to the official MOE Science syllabus rather than veering off into enrichment territory.

  • Secondary: Math, Science

Mindchamps Enrichment Academy (Bukit Timah)

3. Mindchamps Enrichment Academy (Bukit Timah)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #01-15, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 8020 9498 | Website: mindchamps.org

MindChamps is one of the bigger names in Singapore enrichment, and its Primary Success Programme runs on a framework it calls “3 Minds” — building a Champion Mind, Learning Mind, and Creative Mind alongside the academic content, developed with input from researchers in psychology, neuroscience, and education. The content itself tracks the MOE syllabus topic-for-topic; the framework is really about how it’s taught rather than what’s taught.

  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math, Science

Little Earth Education Centre (Bukit Timah)

4. Little Earth Education Centre (Bukit Timah)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-29, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 8493 4397 | Website: littleeartheducation.com

Little Earth starts young — preschoolers building phonemic awareness through multisensory phonics activities — and carries that English focus all the way through to PSLE and O-Level prep. On the primary and secondary side, lessons are broken into the actual components of the MOE English syllabus: composition, comprehension, cloze passage, oral, grammar, and synthesis & transformation, rather than one generic “English tuition” block.

  • Preschool: Phonics
  • Primary: Chinese, English, Math
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Chinese, Elementary Math, English, Math

Learning Point Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

5. Learning Point Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-01D, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 8092 8198 | Website: learningpoint.com.sg

Learning Point’s roots go back to 1995, when it launched Read for Success — a structured phonics programme for 4 to 6 year olds that became one of the reasons the brand expanded beyond its original Thomson centre, adding Bukit Timah in 2000 along with Parkway, Punggol, and Tampines. The Bukit Timah Plaza branch has since grown into a full English, Math, and Science offering from preschool through secondary, though the phonics-first approach for younger children is still the throughline.

  • Preschool: English, Math, Phonics
  • Primary: English, Math, Science
  • Secondary: Additional Math, Elementary Math, English, Math, Science

Jan & Elly English Language School (Bukit Timah Plaza)

6. Jan & Elly English Language School (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #01-01S, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9104 1804 | Website: jan-elly.com

Jan & Elly caps classes at 9 students, which is small enough that the systematic phonics and vocabulary work can actually be tailored per child rather than taught to the middle of the room. For composition, the school leans on a “show, don’t tell” method — getting kids to describe scenes and emotions through sensory detail instead of stating them outright — paired with visual prompts to get reluctant writers started. It’s currently the only centre on this list offering a free trial class.

  • Preschool: English, Phonics
  • Primary: English
  • Free trial class available

Hua Yi Education (Bukit Timah Plaza)

7. Hua Yi Education (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-33, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9758 3015 | Website: clas-huayi.com

Hua Yi has been teaching Chinese since 2003, using its own materials built on top of the government school textbooks rather than replacing them — the idea being to add depth in vocabulary and comprehension without diverging from what’s tested in school. Classes stay small so teachers can adjust to each student directly, and the centre covers the full span from preschool right through JC, which isn’t common among the smaller Chinese specialists in this building.

HCL Education Centre (Bukit Timah)

8. HCL Education Centre (Bukit Timah)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #01-16, #02-24A, #02-13/13A, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 6468 9880 | Website: hcleducation.com.sg

HCL — short for “Happy Chinese Learning” and “Higher Chinese Language” — was founded in December 2006 by Wang Deqing and has since grown into one of the more established Chinese tuition chains in Singapore, with a course structure that runs from a Nursery/K2 happy-learning track through separate Express and Higher Chinese courses at secondary level. The Bukit Timah Plaza branch occupies three separate units, which suggests it’s one of the busier tenants in the building.

Gifted and Talented Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

9. Gifted and Talented Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-23, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9667 0642 | Website: gifted-school.com

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) builds its programmes around the same territory as MOE’s Gifted Education Programme, and has been running since 2013 across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. Every child starts with a diagnostic test before being placed, so the material is pitched at their actual level rather than their school grade — a reasonable fit for parents specifically looking for above-grade-level pacing rather than remedial help.

Fame Music School

10. Fame Music School

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-09, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9754 2171 | Website: famemusicschool.com

Fame is the odd one out on this list in a useful way — a MOE-registered music school rather than an academic tuition centre, running since 2011. Instructors are working musicians rather than career educators, and lessons cover piano, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, cajon, and vocals, taught one-on-one and pitched at whatever level the student is at. Worth knowing about if you’re combining an academic lesson elsewhere in the mall with a music lesson on the same trip.

  • Instruments: Piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, ukulele, cajon, vocal training

Choice Hua Sheng Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

11. Choice Hua Sheng Education Centre (Bukit Timah Plaza)

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit #02-36/37, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Phone: +65 9297 4081 | Website: choicehuasheng.com.sg

Choice Hua Sheng was founded by Madam Kuang, who taught Chinese for 30 years before opening the centre, and that classroom experience shows up in how lessons are structured — small groups, scaffolded writing practice, and difficulty adjusted per student rather than a fixed one-size curriculum. It covers preschool through secondary, including O-Level and Higher Chinese preparation.

Yes — all 11 centres on this list share the same address, 1 Jalan Anak Bukit, Singapore 588996, which is Bukit Timah Plaza itself. Which centre is best for Chinese tuition at Bukit Timah Plaza?

There are four Chinese-language specialists in the building: Hua Yi Education, HCL Education Centre, Choice Hua Sheng Education Centre, and part of Little Earth’s offering. HCL and Hua Yi both cover the widest span of levels, with Hua Yi extending up to JC.

Is there a centre suitable for preschoolers at Bukit Timah Plaza?

Is there anything at Bukit Timah Plaza besides academic tuition?

Fame Music School runs one-on-one music lessons (piano, guitar, drums, bass, ukulele, cajon, vocals) in the same building, useful if you’re coordinating an academic lesson and a music lesson on the same trip.

About Bukit Timah Plaza

Bukit Timah Plaza opened on 28 October 1978 — the date was even declared “Bukit Timah Plaza Day” at the time. It was one of the first mixed-use developments built outside Singapore’s city centre: a four-storey retail podium topped by two residential towers, Sherwood Towers, on a 99-year lease dating from 1976. The original 1975 proposal was valued at S$75 million and was designed around car access from the start, with parking for hundreds of vehicles built in from day one.

The tenant history has shifted a few times over the decades. Metro and Fitzpatrick’s supermarket were the original anchors, Yaohan department store took over in 1981, and after Yaohan closed in 1996, NTUC FairPrice opened a 44,000 sq ft outlet in 1997 — later rebranded FairPrice Finest in 2007 and still running 24 hours today. The mall has since gone through several rounds of modernisation: new lifts, refreshed façades, and updated signage along Upper Bukit Timah Road, though it no longer has a department store anchor.

A few things matter if you’re bringing a child here for a lesson:

  • FairPrice Finest, open 24 hours — useful if a lesson runs late or you need to grab groceries while waiting.
  • Strata-titled units — the mall’s shops are individually owned rather than centrally leased, which is part of why it’s ended up with such a dense, varied mix of small education and enrichment operators rather than chain retail.
  • Mall hours are 10am to 10pm daily, so plan lesson timings around that if you’re combining a visit with shopping or dinner.

Getting to Bukit Timah Plaza: MRT & parking

By MRT: Beauty World MRT station (Downtown Line, DT5) is the nearest stop, about 600m and a 7-minute walk away. Take Exit A onto Upper Bukit Timah Road, then head southeast to Jalan Anak Bukit and turn into the mall. Be aware the crossing at the Clementi Road / Upper Bukit Timah Road junction involves several lanes of traffic and unsheltered footpaths — this isn’t a mall you stroll into casually with a stroller, so budget a few extra minutes if you’re walking with young children.

By bus: Bus stops at Beauty World Station Exit A and Exit B on Upper Bukit Timah Road are served by services 67, 75, 170, 173, 184, 852, and 961, covering routes from Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok, Clementi, and further afield.

By car: The mall sits right beneath the PIE’s Anak Bukit flyover, at the junction of Upper Bukit Timah Road, Jalan Anak Bukit, and Clementi Road — convenient if you’re driving, less so if you’re not. There are two carparks: Level 3/Basement and a Service Road carpark, with slightly different rates.

  • Level 3 & Basement carpark: S$1.65/hour or part thereof on weekdays (7:30am–5pm), S$1.80/hour on Saturdays, and S$2.85 for the first 3 hours (then S$1.65/hour) on Sundays and public holidays. A flat S$2.85 applies from 5pm–7:30am.
  • Service Road carpark: S$1.40/hour Monday–Saturday (7:31am–5pm), S$2.40 for the first 3 hours on Sundays/public holidays, then S$1.40/hour. A flat S$2.40 applies overnight.

Rates are inclusive of 9% GST, effective January 2024. For a typical 1.5-hour lesson block on a weekday, budget around S$3.30 in the Level 3/Basement carpark (charged in full-hour blocks, so 1.5 hours rounds up to 2) or S$2.80 in the Service Road carpark.

Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Bukit Timah tuition centres for more options, including centres at Beauty World Centre and Beauty World Plaza nearby.
