Over 1200+ Tuition Centres

Woodlands Civic Centre isn’t a shopping mall, even though people sometimes describe it as one. It’s a government and community building at 900 South Woodlands Drive — home to the Woodlands Regional Library, a CPF service centre, an HDB branch office, the North West Community Development Council, a SATA CommHealth clinic, and the Woodlands Central Post Office, with a retail podium of banks, tuition centres, and food outlets wrapped around all of that. If you’re heading in to renew a CPF-related matter or return library books, there’s a good chance a tuition centre is a floor or two away.

We checked every listing tagged to Woodlands against its actual coordinates rather than trusting the category label alone, then swept the full dataset by distance from the building. Eight centres sit within a few metres of each other inside 900 South Woodlands Drive — a genuine cluster, not a padded list. We also cross-checked against independent tenant directories, which turned up several other operators in the same building — a music school, a speech and drama academy, a dance studio, a preschool, and a Chinese-language centre among them — that either aren’t academic tuition centres or simply aren’t listed on tuitioncentres.sg yet. See the FAQ below for the full rundown.

Address: Woodlands Civic Centre, 900 South Woodlands Drive #04-02, Singapore 730900
Phone: +65 8883 8004 | Website: mindstretcher.com

Mind Stretcher has been around since 2002 and now runs close to 30 centres islandwide, with a teaching approach it calls Discovery Zone and Scaffolding — breaking concepts down step by step rather than front-loading a full syllabus at once. Progress gets tracked through exam-simulated checkpoints with cohort comparisons, and there’s a digital layer too: an e-Study Buddy platform for recorded lessons and an AI tool for PSLE components like reading and composition. The centre reports that two in three of its students scored Achievement Levels 1–2 in their subjects at PSLE 2025, and 78% scored A grades at O-Levels the same year.

My English School has operated since 2012 and now has 15 centres, with a Reading Programme built on the phonics research of Rudolf Flesch and the US Department of Education’s Reading First findings — phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, taught as separate skills rather than one blended block. Children are placed by reading ability rather than age, and can move up whenever they’re ready instead of waiting for a term to end. A free trial class is available.

That’s a lot of separate programmes under one roof if a child needs more than general English help — say, composition or oral practice specifically. A free trial class is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all these tuition centres actually inside Woodlands Civic Centre?

Yes — all eight centres share the address 900 South Woodlands Drive, Singapore 730900, and sit within a few metres of each other by their listed coordinates. Two pairs even share unit numbers: I Can Read and Yuexuele Chinese Tuition are both at #06-09, and Crestar Learning Centre’s academic tuition arm sits a couple of doors from its sister Crestar School of Dance.

Is there a Chinese-language specialist at Woodlands Civic Centre?

Yu Cai Education Centre and Yuexuele Chinese Tuition and Enrichment Center both focus specifically on Chinese, from preschool through secondary. Crestar also offers Chinese alongside its Math programmes.

Which centre is best for a young child just starting to read?

My English School and I Can Read both run structured, ability-based reading programmes starting from the preschool years, with I Can Read’s Reading Foundations track starting as early as age 2.5.

Do any of these centres offer a trial class?

My English School, I Can Read, Yu Cai, LCentral, and Yuexuele all currently list a free trial class. Mind Stretcher, Mind Matters, and Crestar don’t list one — contact them directly to ask about a placement assessment instead. Trial availability changes, so confirm directly with the centre before enrolling.

Is there anything at Woodlands Civic Centre not on this list?

Yes — an independent tenant check turned up several other operators in the same building. Some are enrichment rather than academic tuition — Ossia Music School, Speech Academy Asia, and Crestar School of Dance cover music, speech and drama, and dance respectively. There’s also Tien Hsia Language School, a Chinese-language centre at #05-08, plus Kinderland Preschool and a couple of smaller learning/literacy operators — none of which are currently listed on tuitioncentres.sg. Worth asking about directly at the building if you’re comparing every option in person, and a gap worth flagging if you run one of these centres and want a listing here.

How do I get to Woodlands Civic Centre without driving?

Take the North-South Line or Thomson-East Coast Line to Woodlands MRT station — it’s about a 4-5 minute walk from there, past Causeway Point, along South Woodlands Drive. Bus service 912 stops at the civic centre directly, and Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange is a few minutes further on foot for other services.

About Woodlands Civic Centre

The building’s anchor tenant is the Woodlands Regional Library, opened on 28 April 2001 by Dr Tony Tan Kheng Yam, then Deputy Prime Minister. It was Singapore’s first full-fledged regional library, following an earlier prototype at Tampines, and at roughly 11,100 square metres across four storeys plus a basement, it was the largest neighbourhood library in the country at the time. The basement holds a 250-seat auditorium; level 1 has the multimedia collection and an Artease Cafe; level 2 is reference materials and internet booths; level 3 covers fiction and non-fiction across Singapore’s four national languages; and level 4 is the children’s section, built around an “Enchanted Tree” reading corner.

Beyond the library, the civic centre is genuinely a one-stop government building: a CPF Woodlands Service Centre, an HDB Woodlands branch office, the North West CDC, a SATA CommHealth medical centre, and the Woodlands Central Post Office all share the address, alongside banks, a kindergarten, and a mix of eateries. That’s the useful bit for parents — you can knock out an errand at the post office or CPF counter while a child is upstairs in a lesson, without moving the car.

  • Woodlands Regional Library — four storeys plus basement, ~540,000 items, and a 250-seat auditorium downstairs.
  • CPF Woodlands Service Centre & HDB Woodlands Branch — government service counters in the same building.
  • North West Community Development Council — the town’s CDC office.
  • SATA CommHealth Woodlands Medical Centre & Woodlands Central Post Office — a clinic and postal counter on site.

Getting to Woodlands Civic Centre: MRT & parking

By MRT: Woodlands MRT station (NS9 on the North-South Line, TE2 on the Thomson-East Coast Line) is around 200 metres away by straight-line distance, and the Thomson-East Coast Line platform has an exit built with a knock-out panel connecting straight into Basement 1 of the civic centre — so once that link is open, it’s a basement walk rather than a street crossing. Commonly cited walking distance via the current route is about 300 metres, roughly 4-5 minutes. The station also connects directly into Causeway Point and Woods Square next door.

By bus: Service 912 stops at the civic centre directly. Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange, at 3A Woodlands Square, is a few minutes’ walk away for a wider range of services, passing Causeway Point on the way.

By car: Woodlands Civic Centre has its own basement car park. Per the building’s own rates (checked July 2026): $0.60 per 30 minutes from 7am to 10:30pm, and a flat $5.00 per entry overnight from 10:30pm to 7am — the same rate every day, including Sundays and public holidays. For a typical 1.5-hour lesson during the day, that works out to roughly $1.80 in parking.

Prices, subjects, and trial class availability are updated periodically — always confirm directly with the centre before enrolling. Browse the full directory of Woodlands tuition centres for more options.
