Rivervale Plaza (118 Rivervale Drive, Singapore 540118) opened in mid-1999 as the first shopping mall in Sengkang New Town, built by HDB to serve the newly developed estate. Ownership has changed hands more than once since — it was managed by CapitaLand Mall Trust Management, later sold to AEW Asia, and is currently owned by SC Capital Partners.
It’s a modest two-storey mall with roughly 20 shops, built for daily errands rather than a day out. Anchor tenants include a 24-hour NTUC FairPrice supermarket, a 24-hour McDonald’s, KFC, and Kopitiam and Koufu food courts, alongside one of the few malls in the area that still has a proper wet market. Other amenities include a POSB Bank branch, a dental clinic, a medical clinic, Unity and Jin Tai Tong pharmacies, a hardware store, a stationery shop, a pet shop, a barber, and a music school sharing the same floors as the tuition centres below.
Important: Rivervale Plaza is not the same mall as “Rivervale Mall” at 11 Rivervale Crescent, about 800m away near Sengkang Grand Mall.
